Pu Erh Teas
Pu Erh tea leaves are prepared
differently than green tea leaves. They undergo a distinct double
fermentation (oxidation) process. First fresh leaves are semi fermented
(oxidized) in the same way an oolong tea is prepared. Then the leaves
are dried in order preserve the nutritional qualities of the tea.
The technically finished (after drying) tea is then specially stored
and “aged’ further; similar to a fine wine the longer
it is aged the more sublime the nectar. Well-aged Pu Erhs are prized
in China.
Pu Erh teas are known as medicinal
teas in the Orient. Due to the unique processing, which activates
the beneficial enzymes and micronutrients present in the tea leaves.
These enzymes and nutrients in addition to strong antioxidants found
in tea form a potent healing beverage. Pu Erh teas are used for
